Child Readiness Center
The Columbia North YMCA Child Readiness Center serves children ages 1-5 years. At the Child Readiness Center, we allow children to explore in a "no" free environment. The classrooms are set up to support individual development beginning with simple and growing to more complex levels of learning. The Child Readiness staff use the Creative Curriculum which helps children learn through their everyday play activities. We have qualified staff that possess a degree in early childhood and those who have attained their CDA. Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:30 am-6:00 pm. Currently we are enrolling children for all ages. Space is limited!
Young Toddlers
(3 - 24 months)
This class allows for age appropriate activities that will enhance each child’s social skills and stretch his/her imagination. Activities include story time, art, finger play, gym time, music, center play and outdoor play.
Full Privilege Member: $200.00/week

Older Toddlers
(25 - 36 months)
This class provides opportunities for exploring the child’s world through play with an increased focus on language development. Activities include story time, art, finger play, gym time, music, center play, cooking experience, and outdoor play.

Preschool
(3 years)
The preschool program promotes learning through creative play interaction between children and teachers. The curriculum develops optimal learning readiness within a warm and caring environment. Our preschoolers are also involved in gym and swim classes weekly.

Pre-K
These classes prepare children for Kindergarten with a program that includes reading and math readiness, arts & crafts, drama, music, science, social studies, nature, gym time, swim lessons, cooking experiences and outdoor play.

Y Afterschool
Kids come first in our state licensed After School Care programs offered at the Columbia North YMCA! We are dedicated to building strong kids and communities through our After School Program.
This program is for students grades K—8 and its hours of operation are from 2pm—6pm, Monday—Friday. The after school program provides students with a well rounded learning experience with a focus on fun, friends, and creativity through supervised activities. Activities include arts & crafts, group games, homework assistance, sports and recreation, computer literacy, and a nutritional hot supper/snack. The program is designed to meet the needs as well as the interest of the students, and is directed by certified and trained staff. The program emphasizes character development that is reinforced through all activities and events.
After school transportation is available to schools where there are 3 or more students enrolled in our program. Please contact Phyllis Lawhorn at ext 1723 to see if we offer services for your child’s school.
Registration is held at the Columbia North YMCA Monday—Friday from 11am—6pm.
All participants must have a current Columbia North YMCA full privilege or program membership: Memberships can be purchased at the following monthly or yearly rates:
Program Membership: $50
After School Program: $115

In order to complete the registration process, each participant must have the entire registration packet complete and turned into the Program Director. Registration packets can be picked up at the Columbia North YMCA. We look forward to seeing you and your family here!
All children must have a YMCA program membership ($50) and schedule for a day visit at our site prior to enrollment. Our goal for the center is to teach, love, and care for all children and provide an exciting experience that they will never forget.
