Day Camp 2008


Member Rates:
Become a full privilege YMCA member and save 10% over program member camp rates. At minimum, each child must become a YMCA program member. A program membership is good for one year and cost $50.
Late Fees:
Payment in full for each week must be made by the close of the business on the Monday, two weeks prior to the start of camp. Payment not received by this date will result in a $25 per child late fee. This includes registering and paying the Monday morning of camp.
Registration Procedures:
To register for camp, fees may either be paid in full at the time of registration or non refundable deposit of $25 per child per week. Parents should be aware that camp often fills up fast and there may be no availability if you wait until camp to register. Registration for day camp is at the YMCA during regular facility hours or during one of the Day Camp Open House events. Registration dates are as follows: Full Priviledge Members - begin February 4, 2008 and Program Members - begin February 11, 2008. A Day Camp registration packet will be available at the YMCA front desk and must be completely filled out as part of the registration process.
Financial Policy:
Every year, the YMCA works hard to raise funds through our strong kids campaign to insure that every child has an opportunity to attend camp regardless of financial circumstance. If you need help with the payment of any portion of the camp fees, Please contact Joanne Mullin at (610) 649-0700 x1406 for financial assistance applications must be accompanied by a 2007 tax return. Applications must be submitted by May 1; any applications submitted after May 1 can not be considered. Decisions will be awarded by June 1, 2008
Refund Policy:
After Friday at 5PM, No refunds or camp week exchanges will be given for the following week for any reason. All other refund request will be granted at the discretion of the Executive Director. Refunds are paid within four weeks of the request and are made on the same basis as the method of original payment.
Extended Hours: AM/PM Care
Extended care is available for all YMCA campers both before and after camp at the YMCA. AM/PM care is provided for an additional $42 per camp week.
AM Care: 7:30- 8:30am
PM Care: 4:00-6:00pm
All campers not in our Extended AM Care program must be dropped off at the YMCA between 8:30AM-8:40AM. Children dropped off before 8:30 will be subject to $42 weekly fee for AM/ PM Care program.

Summer Camps
Camp Sacajawea
Ages 3-5| Half Day: 8:30-1 pm | Fees: Full member $160.00| Program membership $165.00
Full Day | Fees: Full member $216.00 | Program member $240.00
Camp Sacajawea is run at the Main Line YMCA facilities in Ardmore. The facility includes an outdoor field, an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, and multipurpose rooms.
Camp Sacajawea provides an enjoyable learning experience for young campers as they discover more about more about the world around them. Each day may include songs, games, story time, arts and crafts, snack time, nap, and time to make friends. Each week will have a theme that will be incorporated into the daily activities and the planning of each week. Field trips and special visitors will be in house. All activities are age appropriate a geared to challenge and entertain the campers.
Swimming lessons are included in the camp and are given daily by YMCA certified swim instructors.
Each child is responsible to bring a lunch and two snacks each day. Please make sure that all lunches are non- perishable, easy to eat and include a drink. Glass containers are not permitted in camp. We encourage you to pack a healthy (non-candy and sweets) lunch. A healthy lunch will enable campers to perform at their best.
Camp Chippewa
Ages: 5-11| 8:30- 4pm |fees: full member $216.00| program member $240.00
Camp Chippewa is located on the grounds of Hill Top Prep School located on South Ithan Avenue in Rosemont. This spacious facility includes an indoor gymnasium, outdoor swimming poor, playing fields as well as classrooms.
For all of our campers, we keep your Childs best interest in mind, with camp activities targeted to his/her own age group. Interaction with there age group as well as the entire camp will bring fun and enjoyment while they are learning new skills and sharing interest. With emphasis on the YMCA’s Character Development program (focusing on Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility) each day may include swimming lessons, sports, arts and crafts, science & nature, games and social times for new friends. Each week will have a theme that will be incorporated into the daily activities and some in house and traveling field trips. All activities are skill based and age appropriate and emphasize fun, fair play, participation, respect for others and cooperation.
Swimming lessons are a daily activity at Camp Chippewa. All children will receive instructional lessons Monday through Thursday except for field trip conflicts. On Fridays, campers will be swim tested and given a free swim time. Swimming lessons are provided by certified swim instructors and lifeguards are present at all times.
Each camper is responsible for bringing his or her own lunch and snack each day. Please make sure that all lunches are non-perishable, easy to eat and include a drink. Glass containers are not permitted in camp. We encourage you to pack a healthy (non-candy and sweets) lunch. A healthy lunch will enable participants to perform at their best.
Transportation is provided by the YMCA to camp Chippewa. The bus to camp leaves the YMCA promptly at 8:40AM. The bus from camp returns to the YMCA by 4:00PM. Before and After care will be held only at the Main Line YMCA facility in Ardmore.
Camp Lakota (Sports Camp)
Ages: 8-12| Fees $216.00 full member | $240.00 program member
Camp Lakota uses the Hill Top Prep School facilities on South Ithan Avenue in Rosemont.
Our Sports Camp, Camp Lakota, is exciting and challenging for all. A summer of fun, fair play, and fundamentals awaits campers who participate in a variety of sports- related activities including athletic drills and games. All activities are geared for all children of all abilities from the very talented and completive to the young beginner. At Camp Lakota, counselors motivate to not only reach their full potential as an athlete, but also to become a valuable member of our community. We emphasize and encourage the development of character in each camper focusing particularly on the development of the YMCA’s four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Reasonability.
Campers do not need to bring and equipment for our sports activities. Activities may include but are not limited to basketball, softball, football, soccer, and street hockey. A recreational swim is provided at the end of every day. Each week also includes a field trip.

Camp Extra Ordinary (C.E.O.)
Ages: 12-16| 8:30-4PM | Fees: $216.00 full membership | $250.00 program membership
C.E.O. is not your traditional day camp. The camp is based at the Main Line YMCA , But will spend most of it’s time at various locations throughout the community. We desire to help participants reach their full their full potential through volunteerism, leadership, adventure, and team building activities.
Through a joint venture with a volunteer organization, campers participate in projects that help better their community. These projects are completed every Tuesday at locations throughout the Philadelphia area. These projects may include community revitalization, improving the local environment, and children’s education.
Every Friday, Camp ExtraOrdinary travels to Hilltop Preparatory School to aid in the development of younger camp enrolled in the other Main Line YMCA camps. The participants in Camp ExtarOrdinary develop and implement leadership activities, games and projects for the younger campers.
Camp ExtraOrdinary does not participate in “Typical” camp field trips. All field trips are held every Thursday, and create an atmosphere of excitement through a variety of experiences. Trips may include Hershey Park, the beach, Paintball, and Marsh Creek State Park (boating).
While at the Main Line YMCA on Mondays and Wednesdays, campers participate in teambuilding and group activities. In addition, they have ample, play sports and interact with friends. Space is limited to 24 participants per week. Participants must be responsible, have a positive attitude, be willing to try new things, and have a desire to learn.
Gymnastics Camp
Ages 6-13| Fess: $216.00 full member | $240.00 program member
Kids FLIP over Gymnastics! Summer gymnastics camp is a sports specialty camp for girls and boys. This program focuses on teaching USAG gymnastics levels 1-4 in a safe and fun atmosphere. Each day is action-packed with gymnastics instruction in vault, bars, balance, tumbling, strength, and flexibility. Campers Swim daily! Lunch, rest breaks gymnastics games and contests are all part of gymnastics camp program.
Girls wishing to be Main Line YMCA gymnastics team members may try out for the team during camp sessions. This program is for beginner all the way to advanced gymnast. Camp takes place in the gym with the use of instructional and competitive equipment. (Appropriate attire required: leotard for girls, gym shorts with tucked in T-shirt for boys).

Glass containers are not permitted in camp. We encourage you to pack a healthy lunch as participants will be very active while at camp.
