Aquatic Fitness Classes Free to all Full-privilege Members
Arthritic Swim Program
A modified aquatic exercise program for persons with mild to moderate arthritis. Must be sufficiently mobile to use some steps.
Pool Parties
Do your children enjoy swimming? Do you want to have a party a little different than everyone else? Consider having your Party here at the YMCA pool! There are several types of pool parties available. Call the Aquatics Department at extension 2021 for questions and information.

Pool Rentals
Have your organization rent out the YMCA Pool for programs, parties, and events. Call Noel Chacha, Aquatics Director, at 215-476-2700 x2021 for more details.
Water Walking and Jogging
Various patterns of walking and jogging in water provide a full body toning and resistance exercise program in a low impact environment.
Stretch N' Fletch
This class, designed for all levels, begins with basic stretches and moves into an aerobic workout. The goal is to increase heart rate through low impact exercises working on aerobic conditioning and core strengthening. 
Swim Lessons
Parent & Child Swim Class (30 minute classes).
This water enrichment program provides a positive environment for children ages 6 to 36 months WITH a parent or guardian in the water. Parents are guided through basic swimming skills by trained instructors. Children must have head control and must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Children must wear swimmer diapers, no disposable diapers.
Shrimp (6 months—3 years)The Parent & Child Swim Class is a beginner water experience with parent, and will teach beginning swimming and safety skills. The class will be an excellent bonding experience with parent and child.
Perch (24 months—3 Years)
Beginners swim class for 2 to 3 year olds. Children will learn to propel themselves in the water and work towards independence with parent assistance.
Preschool Swim Lessons (30 minute classes).
Children learn the fundamentals of swimming with emphasis on personal safety and developing strength, endurance and coordination. Children are placed into small groups according to their ability.
Pike (3–5 Years)Beginners swim class for 3 to 5 year olds. Children will learn to put their face in the water and blow bubbles, unsupported horizontal float with kicking, supported back float, and beginning alternating arm action.
Eel (3-6 Years)Intermediate swim class 3 to 5 year olds, must pass pike level. Children will learn unsupported front and back floats, beginning front crawl approximately 5 yards and back float with flutter kick. 2203
Ray (4-6 Years)Advanced swim class for 4 to 6 year olds, must pass eel level. Children will be introduced to side breathing with the crawl stroke, back crawl, and elementary backstroke. Begin diving and develop deep water confidence. By the end able to swim 10 to 15 yards.
Starfish (4-6 Years)Advanced swim class to 4 to 6 year olds, must pass ray level. Children will strengthen their front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, and diving. Breaststroke and treading water will be introduced and will build endurance to 25 yards.
Progressive Swim Lessons
Polliwog (6-12 Years) Beginner I swim class for those 6 to 12 years old. Children will learn to float on the front and back unsupported, beginner crawl stroke approximately 5 to 10 yards, and to kick on their back.
Guppy (6-12 Years)Beginner II swim class for those 6 years old and up, must pass polliwog level. Children will be introduced to rotary breathing with the crawl stroke, back crawl, and elementary backstroke. Develop deep water confidence and able to swim 10 to 15 yards.
Minnow (6-12 Years) Intermediate I swim class for those 6 years old and up, must pass guppy level. Children will strengthen their front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke. Begin diving and treading water. Build endurance to 25 yards.
Fish (7-14 Years)Intermediate II swim class for those 7 years old and up, must pass minnow level. Children will refine and build endurance in front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke. Refine diving and treading water. They will be introduced to breaststroke. Build endurance to 50 yards
Flying Fish (8-14 Years)Advanced swim class for those 8 years old and up, must pass fish level. Children will refine and build endurance in front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke. They will be introduced to butterfly and diving from the blocks. Build endurance to 100 to 200 yards. (1 hour class)

Maximize your time in the pool with private
swim lessons. Packages of eight (8)
half hour lessons are available for those
who would like individualized swim lessons.

Adult Instruction
Beginner Adult Swim-Group Lesson
It is never too late to swim or improve your
current swimming abilities. Even though this
is a group lesson, you will receive individual
attention that meets your specific needs.
This class is designed for adults to learn front
and back float, front and back kicking, alternate
stroke movement, and front and back
basic awareness/skills.

Adult Aerobics Classes
Water Aerobics for Beginners:
Using the natural buoyancy of the water to
minimize stress on the joints and muscle:
Participants will learn techniques that will
enhance their workout and they will also,
overcome their fear of water.

Intermediate/Advance Water Aerobics Classes:
Participant will engage in medium to high
combination movement. This intense aerobic
class is done in shallow water. Focus is on cardiovascular
fitness, improve flexibility, muscle
shaping and toning.
Mondays and Wednesdays: 6:00-6:45pm
Saturdays: 10:00-10:45am

Intermediate/Advance Water Walking Aerobics Classes:
A great way to tone your whole body in a
warm and relaxing environment: Participants
will perform low/medium combination movements
to develop upper and lower body
strength while improving their range of
motion; a complete body workout along with
toning.

Adult Arthritic Class:
You have much more control of your arthritis
than you think. The Arthritis Foundation and
the West Branch YMCA have designed
a program to help you feel better and
move more freely. This program provides
and opportunity to do gentle
exercise in a warm water pool under
the guidance of trained instructors.
Swimming experience is not required.
