Position Purpose:
 
Develop and manage the overall strategy for delivering programs and services that are responsive to member and participant needs.  Provide leadership and oversee all aspects of assigned departments: aquatics, camp, youth and teen programs, facility rental and usage. Provide leadership in delivering quality YMCA programs that build and retain membership.   Develop and implement training programs that build a work culture that is responsive to member issues and needs. Establish relationships, contacts, and resources to position the branch for success in the community. Participate in fund raising through annual support, special events and third party sources. Identify opportunities for programs that meet financial and service objectives. Cultivate relationships with community leaders to ensure program effectiveness.   Administer program budget, materials, communication, marketing and promotion.
 
Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with some related experience in youth program development. 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in leading aquatics and other youth programs.
  • Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid certifications preferred. 
  • YMCA trainer, or ability to pursue certification.
  • Experience in supervising and leading staff and volunteers.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating teen programs focused structured activities that develop mind, body, and spirit.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring financial projections, budgets and assessment of program effectiveness.
  • Experience working with voluntary boards, committees and in providing leadership to these types of groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Detail-oriented with problem solving skills.
  • Ability to operate computer, communicate via email, telephone and personally.   Ability to endure regular physical activity.
  • Knowledge and experience with computer software i.e. Excel, Word, Lotus Notes
  • YMCA of USA Sr Director Certification preferred.
