Y ACHIEVERS PROGRAM LEVELS
Youth Achievers (5th and 6th Grade)
Youth Achievers are Y-Achievers meetings housed at the YMCA of Philadelphia and Vicinity branches for students in the 5th and 6th grade. In bi-monthly sessions, students explore various career paths through group discussion, role playing and guest speakers. Youth Achievers also take part in activities that focus on leadership training, communication (i.e. self presentation and etiquette), and goal setting.
Tourist Achievers (7th and 8th Grade)
Tourist Achievers are Y Achievers meetings housed at the YMCA of Philadelphia and Vicinity branches for students in the 7th and 8th grade. Similar to Youth Achievers, Tourist meetings consist of bi-monthly combinations of group discussions, guest speakers, and field trips as a means to further explore a variety of professions and industries. Students also continue to take part in workshops that strengthen their leadership and communication skills.
Teen Achievers (9th and 10th Grade)
Teen Achievers is a bi-monthly Y-Achievers meeting held at Drexel University, where participants engage in regular, project-based learning, according to a career field they may be interested in pursuing in the future. Learning firsthand from programming conducted by Adult & Collegiate Achievers, Teen Achievers receive hands-on experience in dealing with the career of their interest, while continuing to take part in activities that solidify their leadership, communication and social skills.
Future Leaders (11th and 12th Grade)
Future Leaders are Y-Achievers workshop meetings held at Drexel University that provide 11th and 12th grade Achievers the opportunity to continue self-discovery in a career field of interest , while taking part in additional activities that prepare them to make the critical transition from high school to college. Additional Future Leaders activities include workshops on the college application process and financial aid, campus visits, researching scholarships, internships, personalized vision planning, community service and more.
