Our Willow Grove YMCA Hurricanes Swim Team is off to the State Championship!
Willow Grove YMCA’s swim team, The Hurricanes, has continued to advance through the post-season competitions. The swim team ranging in ages from 6-18 had 59 of their 91 swimmers meet qualifying standards to compete in the 2022 Charley Hartley Memorial Silver Championship Meet on February 24th-26th. 38 of the swimmers went on to qualify for the PA YMCA East District Championships on March 11th-13that West Chester University and Kennett Area YMCA.
At Districts, many of the swimmers achieved personal best times, and 11 qualified to advance to the upcoming 2022 PA YMCA State Championship on March 24th-26that the Graham Aquatic Center in York, PA. Individuals advancing to the State Championship include Anna Lam (9-10 Girls 50 Breaststroke and 50 Backstroke), Gabriel Zanfir (11-12 Boys 100 Butterfly), Gracie Maxwell (11-12 Girls 50 Breastroke and 100 Backstroke), and Quinn Jerardi (11-12 Girls 50 Butterfly and 100 Butterfly).
The Hurricanes also have four relay teams advancing to the State Championship including Keira Collopy, Talia Waterfall, Anna Lam, and Evie Poehlmann competing in the 9-10 Girls 200 Medley Relay, London Marshall, Keira Collopy, Evie Poehlmann, and Anna Lam competing in the 9-10 Girls 200 Free Relay, Zoe Schmidt, Gracie Maxwell, Quinn Jerardi, and Sara Gujarecompetingin the 11-12 Girls 200 Medley Relay, and Gracie Maxwell, Sloan Santaniello, Sara Gujare, and Quinn Jerardi competing in the Girls 200 Free Relay.
