About Part-Day Preschool
The Y Part-Day Preschool Program is designed for kids 2 – 5 years, that encourages social interaction and listening skills at the hands of caring, experienced teachers, and aides.
Children will be introduced to the wonderful world of colors, shapes, songs, music, movement, friendship, and more. Preschool-age children will also have a focus on school-readiness with lessons to begin and grow writing and reading skills, as well as early math concepts.
Age Range for Part-Day Preschool Program: 24 months - 5 years
Learning Outcomes
Play is the work of the child. Children use a variety of strategies to gather information based upon their individual approaches to learning. Children develop phonemic awareness, a foundational skill of speaking and listening, by listening to rhyming stories, singing songs, and engaging in word play activities.
Mathematical skill are developed when children compare quantities, find patterns, test ideas, and confront real problems.
Children will engage in cooperative play with their peers and in back and forth conversation with teachers and each other about their play.

Now Enrolling for the 2026–2027 School Year! Save your child’s seat for the upcoming school year. Enrollment for classes beginning in September 2026 must be completed by August 15, 2026.
To qualify for the 2026–2027 School Year:
- Children enrolling in the 3 and 4 year old classes must be of age by 9/1/26.
- Children enrolling in the 2 year old classes must also be of age by 9/1/26.

Summer is a time of continued learning at the Y! We offer multiple weeks of play-based curriculum for children 2 - 5 years old. We will be encouraging social, emotional, & academic growth through some of the following activities:
- Art projects that promote fine motor skills & creativity
- Rhymes & storytime
- Music & movement
- STEM exploration

What are the age/date requirements for registrants?
To qualify for the 2026-2027 School year, children attending must meet age-date requirements.
- Children attending the 3 & 4-year-old classes must be of age by 9/1/26.
- Children attending the 2-year-old classes must be of age by 9/1/26.
How do I get started?

What happens after I apply?
Congratulations on taking the next step to enrolling in Y Child Care!
- Once we receive your application and if space is available in your desired program, our team will process your registration.
- Please note: Completion of an application form does not guarantee enrollment. Enrollment is dependent upon availability of the desired age and day option.
- You will receive a welcome email to confirm your enrollment.
- You will be asked to complete our Emergency Contact forms online through the YMCA portal. This important health and safety information is required for your child to begin care in our programs.
- Enrollment must be completed by August 15, 2026 to save a space for the Fall 2026 class start.
Can I take a tour?

Can I apply and register after the cut-off date?
Yes, our programs are open enrollment. If you need care after our official registration date has passed, we will do our best to accommodate your request if space is available in our program.
What's the staff to child ratio?
We follow a 1 adult to 10 children ratio for preschool. For children 2 years old and under we follow a 1 adult to 6 children ratio.
How do teachers communicate with parents about child progress?
Daily notes on the curriculum, lessons, and activities are provided through Tadpoles. Families are provided with development progress reports three times per year.
How do you maintain a sanitary environment?
Handwashing occurs upon entering the classroom, before handling food and feeding, after handling body fluids, before and after messy play.
Surfaces in the learning center are washed and sanitized frequently. Rest mats/coats are sanitized weekly and bedding is sent home at the end of each week to be laundered. Carpets and toys are cleaned regularly.
What health and safety precautions are taken?
To learn more about the health and safety precautions we follow at Y Early Learning Centers, please review our Family Manual. We also follow the standards outlined by Praesidium for child protection.
What do families need to provide as part of their child's care?
Families shall provide a seasonably appropriate change of clothing as messy play, food spills, and toileting accidents are still common at this age.
Families provide a change of seasonally appropriate clothing, sippy cup or water bottle, and snack.
All items brought from home shall be labeled with the child’s full name.
How often are bathroom trips?
Bathroom trips are provided at least every 2 hours.
How often will my child play outside?
Preschoolers spend time outdoors daily so appropriate outerwear is necessary year round.
What type of shoes should my child wear?
Closed toe and closed heel shoes, such as sneakers, are best for all age groups.
Can my child bring a screen play device?
Screen time is not permitted in preschool rooms.
