Millions of adults have a Y Story from their youth. Why?

Because the Y plays an integral part in helping children grow and thrive. It's where they learn about caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility because that’s what the Y is all about. Our programs aren’t just about winning, they are about building character, challenging yourself, and trying to be your best. Sign up for one of our programs and someday your kids will be telling their own Y stories!

It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for a stroke and turn clinic to help your advanced swimmer accomplish specific goals or an introductory class to get your child into the water, the Y has you covered. Life is all about balance, and you’ll be sure to find that in all of our gymnastics programs at the Y. From parent/child courses to competitive teams, we can meet you where you’re at and our professional coaches can help you take that next step on your gymnastics journey. So, make one of our gymnastics courses part of your daily routine. When you’re finished you’ll be beaming with joy. (come on, that’s a little bit funny…)

sports ymca

From soccer to basketball, tee-ball to tennis, hockey to flag football, the Y offers a wide variety of sporting options for athletes from pre-school to high school. We work with some of the region’s most amazing coaches to develop and deliver an outstanding sports experience. Mixed with all of our tactical and technical training, our instructors actively work to instill our 4 core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility into the young athletes in the program.

Our dance classes are en pointe. Whether you’re into ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, or modern classes, we’ll help you find your rhythm and take the next step towards Broadway. Join us in the studio to work on choreographed routines designed to improve flexibility, stamina, endurance and muscle memory. It doesn’t matter if your aspirations are a concert hall stage or simply to be Tik-Tok famous, this class will raise the barre and help you achieve your goals. Give it a cha-cha-chance.

Martial Arts

The Y offers a range of Martial Arts designed to help students improve their focus, self-discipline, physical fitness, and confidence. In addition to teaching the principles of self-defense, our senseis will re-enforce character development. Graduates of these classes will leave with the fundamentals of these ancient techniques, an awareness of when to use them, and a roadmap on how to continue on their journey as a future martial artist.

Special Needs Programs

The YMCA’s recreational program setting provides a unique experience with an emphasis on sports, social interaction, and fun. We strive to positively impact youth with special needs in the Philadelphia and the surrounding regions by providing safe, fun, and interactive programs to grow and socialize in a nurturing environment.

We offer several programs for all abilities including swim lessons, gymnastics programs, and more! Plus our facilities are accessible for everyone and provides specialty equipment to serve every member’s ability level.

Teen Programs

From mentoring to music, tech to fun Fridays, Model UN to Y Achievers - the Y offers many programs for teens to experience a variety of career, college, and civic engagement pathways, opportunities, and activities.

We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. Because of the Y, more young people in neighborhoods around our community are taking a greater interest in learning and making smarter life choices. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

All programs are centralized around 3 core areas.

teen programs - college

College Readiness

We offer middle school and high school students ways involved in many of our college readiness programs. Through Y Achievers, middle and high school students meet weekly for projects, our OnTrack College Prep program, financial literacy training, and more. High schoolers can also engage in our mentorship programs to find support, guidance, and engaging mentors.

Civic engagement - teens

Civic Engagement

Want to make the world a better place? Have a passion for a particular topic? Join one of our many civic engagement programs to collaborate, learn, and grow with like-minded peers. Whether you want to get involved with Model UN, Youth & Government, our Crisis Resolution Program - or want to experience hands-on problem solving with world leaders in our Y Impact Lab - the opportunities are endless!

career readiness - teens

Career Readiness

Learn real-world skills that will propel you into the career of your dreams! Take on virtual projects, connect with mentors, learn skills like programming, graphic design, and much more. Participate in special programs like DASH - Destined to Achieve Successful Heights that partners with Grammy award-winning producers and artists to teach the Business of Music.

We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to cultivate their talents and achieve their dreams.

That's why here at the YMCA, we have partnered with the Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) WorkReady program to provide young people in our Philadelphia communities with the skills and experiences that will prepare them for success in the workplace and beyond through work, internship, and volunteer opportunities at the Y for students ages 14-22 in any zip code within Philadelphia County.
