Get started with the Y App!

Use the following instructions to get the app for the Greater Philadelphia Y set up on your phone!

  1. Go to the app store on your mobile device.
  2. Search for "PhilaYMCA".
  3. Install the application onto your mobile device.
  4. Create a new account (Please note that your member portal information will not grant access to the app. You can use the same email and password, but you need to create an account with the app to get started).
  5. Select the branch location you want to receive alerts and schedules for (you can select your favorite branches in the filters later if you want to view multiple branch schedules)
  6. Enable push notifications - you will need to "allow notifications" to receive updates from the Y. Visit your mobile devices settings to set how you wish to receive these notifications (silent, banners etc). If you only want them to appear in your app, you will need to mark "notification center".

Add your member barcode.

Use the following instructions to add your member barcode so you can use the app the check-in when you visit the Y. Note: you can add multiple family members on one device for fast family check-ins!

  1. Click on the barcode icon in top right corner
  2. Click the add person icon in the top right corner
  3. Add your name and barcode number
  4. Hit save in the top right corner

Members with an Apple device can also add their barcode to Apple Wallet. Adding a barcode to your Apple Wallet allows you to check-in at the branch without opening the app.
