Splash, swim, and play your way to a fun and safe summer at the Y. The outdoor pool is open this summer from May 24, 2025 - September 1, 2025.

Members who wish to use the outdoor pool must purchase a pool pass.

Our world-class outdoor pool center includes a family fun pool, water slides, designated lounge spaces for members, and convenient locker rooms. We will have chairs at the outdoor pool, but members are permitted to bring their own.

Outdoor Pool Passes

The Y offers a limited number of pool passes available for purchase exclusively by Greater Philadelphia YMCA members. Membership must remain active at time of purchase through the end of the outdoor pool season.

Passes are available for purchase starting March 3, 2025!

Individual Pool Pass

$155

Available for purchase by any active Y member ages 12 years and up. This pass grants a single individual access to the outdoor pool for summer.

Senior Pool Pass

$105

Available for purchase by members who have an active Senior Y Membership only. This pass grants a single individual access to the outdoor pool for summer.

Family Pool Pass

$310

This pass grants all members on the Family, Single Parent Family, Two Adult, or Family +1 Membership access to the outdoor pool for summer.

Family Upgrade Pool Pass

$465

Available for purchase by members who currently hold an active Adult Y Membership. This pass allows individuals with an Adult Membership the ability to upgrade to a family pool pass at an additional cost, granting all adults and children within their household access to the outdoor pool for summer.

 

Outdoor Pool Rules

Only members 18+ who are pool pass holders can bring guests to the pool. No day passes are available unless you are a paid guest of an outdoor pool pass holder.

Guests ages 2 and up are charged a $12 fee per visit and must present valid ID. Outdoor pool Members must purchase the guest passes, and no cash will be accepted. Guest passes are sold at the outdoor check-in station or at the front desk, and not available online. Guest pass purchases are non-refundable and must be used on the day purchases.

Waivers must be signed by guests at the time of registration for the passes. Guests must present the receipt given at the time of purchase to enter the pool.

Guest passes are available throughout pool operating hours Monday-Friday. On weekends, guest passes are only sold prior to 5:00 PM. No guest passes will be sold on holidays including: Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day.

Refunds will not be provided for any outdoor pool Pass purchases.

There will be no proration for pricing of outdoor pool passes. Pricing will be the same regardless of when the pass is purchased.

Outdoor pool pass holders must have active membership at one of the Greater Philadelphia Y branches (PhilaYatHome Virtual Members are excluded). There is no option to purchase a pool pass without a membership.

If there is thunder or lightning, all pools and decks will be cleared immediately. We will reopen pools 30 minutes after the last sight of lightning or sound of thunder.

Please enter and exit through the pool gates. Bathrooms and showers are open. Only swim diapers are permitted in the pool. 

Coolers and outside food are allowed. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Smoking, vaping, and glass containers are not permitted.

All children under the age of 12 must be under adult supervision while using the pool, in addition to the supervision of our trained YMCA lifeguards. Adults supervising these child(ren) must be 18 years or older and have an active YMCA membership. However, adults accompanying their child to a swim lesson program are not required to have a Y membership.

  • Children 6 and Under: Must be supervised in the water even after successful completion of the shallow or deep-water test. Adults supervising these child(ren) must be 18 years or older and have an active YMCA membership.
  • Children 7-11: Do not have to be supervised by an adult in the water unless they cannot pass the shallow water test. If they pass the test, an adult must supervise but can remain on the pool deck. If the child cannot pass the shallow water test, in-water supervision by an adult is required. Adults supervising these child(ren) must be 18 years or older and have an active YMCA membership.

All children 16 and under (members and guests) will be swim tested and marked with a colored wrist band. Children who have been swim tested must verify their swimming ability on subsequent visits by wearing the wrist band or be re-tested. Swimmers of any age may also be swim tested at the discretion of the lifeguard.

Shallow Water Swim Test – Orange Band

Swimmers must be able to maneuver from a vertical position to a horizontal position on their front and back, and then return to a vertical position, swim 10 yards on front, maintaining positive body position (legs should not drop past 45 degree angle).

Children who pass the Shallow Water Test will:

  • Wear an orange wrist band
  • Stay in the shallow end of the pool

Children who can’t pass the Shallow Water Test will:

  • Stay in the shallow end of the pool
  • Be supervised in the water by an adult or teen within arm’s length
  • Wear a coastguard approved PFD (personal flotation device) if between the ages of 12 months up to 12 years and be identified by wearing a red wrist band - PFDs are not required in bodies of water less than 2 feet in depth
  • Age 12-16 who cannot pass the shallow water test will be required to wear a red wrist band and remain in the shallow end of the pool, no deeper than armpit depth

Deep Water Swim Test – Green Band

Participant must be able to maneuver from a vertical position to a horizontal position on their front and back, then swim half of a length of the pool, arm over arm front crawl with their face in the water into deep water, maintaining positive body position (legs should not drop past 45 degree angle), tread for 1 minute, swim the remainder of the length, exit the pool without assistance, and jump into the deep end. Swimmer may not rest or stop during the test. If the participant cannot complete all aspects of the test, the test is failed.

Children who pass the Deep Water Test will:

  • Wear a green wrist band
  • Be allowed to swim anywhere in the pool

Please bring Coast Guard-approved flotation for all non-swimmers or those whose do not wish to take the swim test. These can include lifejackets and puddle jumpers. Nothing inflatable will be permitted for use as a flotation device.

A very limited number of flotation devices will be available. Flotation devices are not a substitute for adequate supervision. Infant floatation devices that can be sat in are not permitted.

We will have slides open this summer for members. Slides will be available only during designated times.

All riders 16 and under must be swim tested and banded. 

There will be no mermaid tails, water guns, or blow up toys permitted at the outdoor pool.

As an outdoor pool pass holder, you have access to four outdoor pool locations.

*Pass holders must maintain an active YMCA membership to use the outdoor pools. If you cancel or suspend your membership at any time, your pool pass will be canceled.

The Y will provide financial assistance for the purchase of outdoor pool passes. The maximum adjustment for those who qualify will be 50%.

Members who qualify for a program discount through their insurance will receive the standard discount of 25% on a pool membership.

Discounts can only be applied if pool passes are purchased by calling (215) 220-9199 or visiting the membership desk at the branch. Discounts cannot be added to online pass purchases.
