PENNSBURG, PA — August 21, 2026 — The Upper Perkiomen YMCA has been named the 2026 Non-Profit of the Year by the Upper Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce. The award, which will be presented at the Chamber's Annual Celebration on Wednesday, September 9, recognizes the branch's ongoing work to strengthen the health, connection, and well-being of the community it serves. The Y was nominated by James Keith of Kenvue.
“Being named Non-Profit of the Year is a tremendous honor, but the real credit belongs to this community,” said Rob Carpenter, Executive Director of the Upper Perk YMCA. “Every day, our staff, volunteers, members, and donors show up for one another — and that's what the Y is all about. This recognition affirms our mission: to make sure everyone in the Upper Perkiomen Valley has a place to belong, grow, and thrive.”
In 2025, the Upper Perk YMCA delivered measurable impact across the Upper Perkiomen Valley:
- Provided $124,991 in financial assistance, making memberships, programs, and meaningful connections accessible to all.
- Served 36 children in Y childcare programs and supported 235 young people through day camp — delivering safe and enriching spaces where kids thrived.
- Provided 52 free memberships for 7th graders, ensuring every child belongs at the Y.
- Brought nearly 10,000 community members together, fostering connection and belonging.
- Donated nearly 2,000 pounds of fresh produce from the Y garden to support the local food pantry.
- Supported the American Red Cross through blood drives resulting in 210 lives saved.
- Helped 1,408 participants grow stronger and more confident through programs like swim lessons and youth sports.
