The Willow Grove YMCA Twisters girls gymnastics team kicked off their 2023 season in impressive fashion at the Eastern Pennsylvania YMCA Girls Gymnastics League (EPYGGL) competition held right at their home turf on November 4th and 5th. The gymnasts displayed remarkable skills, determination, and teamwork throughout the competition, securing a total of 70 individual event titles, showcasing their exceptional talent.
In addition to the Twisters outstanding individual performances, the team had memorable moments as two of their senior gymnasts, Ella Tor and Serene Abdikarimova, competed in their last home meet. Ella was crowned vault champion and placed 2nd on bars, beam, floor, and the All-around in the Xcel Diamond level, while Serene secured 3rd place on bars and beam in the Xcel Platinum level. Their dedication and leadership will be celebrated throughout the season.
Up next for the Willow Grove YMCA Twisters, the girls' team will continue their journey at the West Chester University Fall Fling on Saturday, November 18th. Meanwhile, the Twisters boys' team is gearing up for their season opener on Sunday, November 19th, at the York Expo Center at the Tim Weaver Battlefield Invitational.

Mubarak has over two decades of expertise in gymnastics and acrobatics. He coaches young athletes to achieve their dreams while having fun in the sport. His career includes tenure as a stuntman at Walt Disney World Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular Show, and a key role in winning the 2005 NCAA Gymnastics Team Championship for the University of Oklahoma. Mubarak is a graduate in Political Science, and he enjoys motorsports and quality time with his family.
