Sports and Recreation

At the West Philadelphia Y, you can do more than work out — you can form relationships and build healthy habits. The strength and cardio fitness center has equipment like treadmills and weight machines, allowing you to create the perfect workouts. Your membership also lets you access group exercise classes that help you strengthen your mind and body, plus we offer virtual at-home workouts

The Y is a great place for you and your family to come and play, too. Stop by for volleyball, basketball or pickleball at our gymnasium courts or enjoy boxing or our sauna to create variety in your active life.

Whether you're looking to practice your skills or teach a child how to swim in a safe environment, you can find everything you need here. Our lap pool allows swimmers at any level to practice their strokes, and families can enjoy a fun place to play and become more comfortable in the water. Swimming is open to all at our pool in West Philadelphia, with options like accessible swim and water walking. These activities help active older adults or those seeking low-impact therapeutic exercise.

Child Care

If you need child care services in West Philadelphia, our experienced and caring staff will watch your children for up to two hours while you spend time looking after your health. This amenity helps busy parents devote a few hours to their well-being. The Y also provides before- and after-school care to keep your kids safe and nurture learning and relationships. From homework help to games and activities, we will help your child thrive.

No Place for Hate

We partnered with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to ensure the YMCA is inclusive and available for everyone. In 2022, our branch earned No Place for Hate accreditation through the ADL.

The accreditation comes after a year-long initiative to ensure inclusion in all facets of our YMCA. The initiative was made up of events, pledges, celebrations, and daily acts of acceptance and inclusion.

We welcome our neighbors of all races, genders, and abilities at the Y. We pledge to continue to ensure the Y is inclusive, accepting, and a place for all people.
